What is the goal of counseling for a TBI?

A Traumatic Brain Injury can feel like your brain has been rewired, and the world no longer makes sense. The goal of counseling isn’t to go back to who you were before. It's to help you find a new way to live your life. We'll work together to help you understand your unique challenges and build a new toolkit of strategies to navigate the world. We believe in your capacity to live a full and meaningful life, and we are here to help you get there.

How can a counselor help me with my emotions and TBI?

Living with a TBI can feel like you're on an emotional rollercoaster that you can't get off of. It's a lot to handle, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed. Counseling provides a safe space for you to process your emotions without judgment. We'll help you understand what's going on with your mind and body, and we’ll give you a new playbook for responding to your emotions in a healthy way. You can take control of your emotions rather than having them control you.

What are some common challenges that a person with a TBI faces?

A TBI can bring a lot of challenges, from memory loss to difficulty concentrating to a lack of emotional control. It's a lot to handle, and it can feel overwhelming. We understand these struggles. We can work together to help you build a new set of tools to create a sense of control and empowerment in your life, so you can continue to move forward with confidence. You are not a helpless passenger; you have the power to live a life that is full and rewarding.

What is the difference between a TBI and a concussion?

A concussion is a mild form of a Traumatic Brain Injury. Think of it like a sprained ankle. It's a temporary injury that can be painful, but it will heal. A TBI is a more serious injury that can have a significant impact on your life. It's like a broken bone that requires a more intensive recovery plan. We can work together to help you understand your unique experience and develop a plan to take control.
