We all need support—someone to listen to us with an open and nonjudgmental mind, someone to help us reorganize our thoughts when we are confused, undecided, or overwhelmed, and someone to cheer us on when we struggle without pushing us faster than we are ready to go. My goal is to provide you with the comfort necessary for introspection and healing and to search with you for any tools that may enrich your journey of self-discovery and fulfillment. As difficult as it is to take that first step into a counselor's office, I believe that seeking help when in need is the greatest act of love we can gift ourselves, as well as the clearest sign of strength and maturity. So, although the day we first meet will mark the beginning of our journey, it will not be the beginning of yours: you are already well on your way! I look forward to walking alongside you, wherever your path may lead.

Maybe everything hurts, our hearts shadowed and strange. But only when everything hurts may everything change. - Amanda Gorman. Everyone's lived experiences are vastly different and finding a therapist who can honor and understand these differences is essential to success. My approach to therapy is client-centered, meaning that I believe in tailoring our sessions to meet your individual experiences, needs, and goals. From an LGBTQ+ inclusive feminist lens, my approach integrates the understanding that we must look at ourselves holistically within the context of our communities, relationships, society, and internal selves. No matter what you are facing, my ultimate goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, empowering space for you to explore your inner strength and see your true value. With proper support and guidance, you can heal and reach your full potential. My background includes mental health care for children, teenagers, and adults, survivors of violence and exploitation, gender and sexuality-affirming care, couples/relational care, and the processing of traumatic experiences. See below for further specializations and services. If you are ready to take the first step towards better mental health, I am here to support you every step of the way.

I am passionate about helping people uncover their strengths and navigate life’s challenges with compassion and understanding. I take pride in building meaningful, collaborative relationships with my clients. My approach to counseling is client-centered and trauma-informed, blending tools from cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal therapy, and mindfulness to meet each client's unique needs. I believe in a whole-body approach to mental health, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and emotions in the healing process. I value connection and find witnessing my clients’ resilience and growth deeply rewarding. I have worked with adolescents and adults navigating a variety of concerns, including eating disorders, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. No matter the concern, my goal is to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel empowered to share their stories and create meaningful change.

Hi and welcome! I'm Kiara, and I'm so glad you're here. One of the hardest parts of starting therapy is taking that first step and choosing to show up for yourself. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, navigating a major life transition, or simply looking for a space to better understand yourself, you've already done something meaningful by being here. You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. This is a space where we can slow down, explore what has brought you here, and move forward together at a pace that feels right for you.

I've had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults through some of life's most challenging moments. My experience includes supporting individuals and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, substance use, and relationship and family conflict. I've also worked alongside older adults as they process loss, adapt to changes that come with aging, and rediscover purpose in new chapters of life. Through each experience, one thing has remained true: healing looks different for everyone.

Whatever brings you here, we don't have to figure it out alone. Together, we'll make sense of what's been weighing on you, better understand the experiences and patterns that have shaped your life, and build practical tools to help you move toward the life you want to create. I look forward to being part of your journey.

I believe one of the biggest challenges we face when navigating uncertain, difficult, or trying periods of life is finding the courage to reach out and ask for help. One of the most important aspects of effective therapy is the relationship with your counselor. My goal is to provide you with a safe, supportive, judgment-free space. I will meet you where you are, partner with you, and walk alongside you to achieve your goals. I am here to help you find hope and strength again. I look forward to working with you. I enjoy helping others navigate the challenges life brings, such as relationship issues, separation, parenthood, life transitions, sexuality, stress, anxiety, and depression. I believe all individuals have innate, unique strengths. I aim to partner with you to discover those strengths and help you thrive.

As a graduate of Colorado State University-Pueblo in May 2025, I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in August 2025. I am also a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and a Social Work Candidate (SWC). With over 7 years of experience in human services, I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations, supporting families involved with the Department of Human Services as a life skills worker. Additionally, I spent a year providing clinical services as a therapist during my final year of school. Working in this field has allowed me to truly appreciate the significance of mental health stability, particularly during difficult life transitions. I understand that life’s obstacles can feel overwhelming at times, making the path forward seem daunting. It’s completely normal to feel as though you’re carrying a heavy burden, and I want you to know that you don’t have to navigate these challenges alone.

Healthy communication and exploring the next steps in your life can be empowering and essential for healing, whether you are dealing with depression, unhealthy coping mechanisms, stress, trauma, maladaptive behaviors, or concerns about self-esteem. My aim is to collaborate with you, providing support and understanding as we work together. I am dedicated to helping you raise awareness around your feelings and experiences, equipping you with therapeutic tools to foster growth in the areas that matter most to you. I am passionate about using evidence-based practices, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and solution-focused brief therapy, to help you overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. I look forward to building a strong, trusting relationship with you. Together, we can embark on this journey toward healing and positive change, ensuring that you feel supported every step of the way.

Hi! As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, I specialize in helping clients identify, challenge, and restructure unhelpful thought patterns that influence emotions and behavior. During our time together, we will focus on examining automatic thoughts, core beliefs, and cognitive distortions to develop more balanced and adaptive ways of thinking. We will work on a collaborative and structured approach, where you feel both supported and gently challenged. We will collaborate together to create a space where you feel you can safely question long-standing beliefs, strengthen cognitive flexibility, and build practical skills that promote lasting emotional and behavioral change.

"I believe therapy should feel like a safe space to land—a place where you can show up exactly as you are and feel seen, heard, and supported. Whether you're navigating past trauma, current life stressors, relationship challenges, or anxiety, my goal is to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and care. I’m a Social Work Candidate with a Master of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and over 11 years of experience in the mental health field. I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings, and I bring a deep respect for each person’s unique story and strengths. My approach to therapy is holistic, client-centered, and grounded in the belief that healing looks different for everyone. I draw from a range of therapeutic methods—including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, recreational and art-based practices—and I am currently deepening my work in somatic and expressive therapies. Most importantly, I tailor each session to your individual needs, goals, and pace. It’s not always easy to reach out for support, but I truly believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship. If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, authenticity, and a genuine desire to help you grow, I’d be honored to connect with you."

I strongly admire all that social work represents, from relationship building and self-determination to skill strengthening and empowerment, as well as cultivating agency and self-advocacy among individuals and communities, and highlighting the importance of putting systems theory into practice. I apply this concept and consider the biological, psychological, and social-environmental influences on clients and the community. I also recognize and apply the framework of intersectionality as it relates to my clients. Emphasizing a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and anti-racist lens while engaging in therapy. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Colorado Mesa University in 2019. I then graduated from Colorado State University with a master's degree in social work in 2021. I am currently working towards obtaining my Doctorate in social work from Capella University. During my down time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. listening to podcasts, reading books, cooking delicious foods, shopping, and staying active

In-Network Counseling Services

Accepting Medicaid & Insurance to Make Therapy Accessible for All

Most major insurance plans are accepted here, so cost isn't what's standing between you and feeling better — and we'll handle the paperwork.

How it works
1
Find the right provider
Find the right therapist for you on our directory — filter by service, specialty, approach, or location to see who fits what you're looking for. Every provider in our directory accepts the same insurance, practice-wide, so cost doesn't have to be a separate hurdle.
2
Complete our intake packet
Found a time that works? Click Book, then complete our Intake Packet. From there, we'll take care of gathering your insurance details and verifying your benefits — so it's one less thing to think about before your first appointment.
3
Attend your session
Attend your session online or in-person, whichever you booked. Your Client Portal keeps everything else in one place — appointments, your Good Faith Estimate (GFE), and messages with your provider.
Top-Rated Counseling Services

Why clients choose us for therapy

Our counselors are trained to help you work through what's hard — not just talk about it. When you're ready, we're ready.

Summary
Across hundreds of client reviews, one theme comes through again and again: people feel truly heard here. Clients describe finally finding a therapist who understood them, gaining real tools for anxiety, trauma, and anger management, and walking away from sessions feeling lighter and more hopeful. Many say Overcomers was the first place therapy actually felt like the right fit — a space to be met with warmth, patience, and genuine care on the path to becoming who they're meant to be.

Abby is the most professional and strongest counselor I have ever worked with. Having a psychology background and working in social services, I am familiar or have worked with dozens of therapists. She is maintained a very professional approach and her model of counseling is a perfect blend between structure and empathy. I have recommended her services to several people and intended to continue doing so!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Serena has not only knowledge, but compassion, understanding, guidance to push through whatever obstacles I have faced, and the advice needed to learn new traits or skills. I’ve definitely had a battle of finding a therapist I not only connect with, but someone I’m comfortable sharing some uncomfortable situations with to help move past. She’s been so very patient with me and my life’s ups and downs. I can’t thank her enough for being so genuine! Has been nothing but a great experience!
