As a therapist, I have a deeply held belief in the power of listening and acceptance. It can be scary to trust in yourself, especially when you are suffering. Therapy with me is a space to let go and be yourself: no masks, no judgment, just curiosity, acceptance, and compassion. I provide this space for clients of all backgrounds. My clients would describe me as calm, warm, and adaptable.

I am passionate about supporting clients healing from trauma, dealing with ADHD, and dealing with anxiety. I use ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help you unhook from difficult, tangled thoughts and feelings and to live according to your values. I also use EMDR to support clients healing from trauma. Together, we will collaborate to figure out what has you feeling stuck and what actions you can take to move toward a full, meaningful life.

Hi there! I believe therapy works best when it feels real, human, and collaborative. I show up as my authentic self and invite my clients to do the same, creating a space where both positive and difficult experiences can be openly explored and held with care. My approach is person-centered and existential, meaning I focus on who you are, what gives your life meaning, and how your values shape the choices you want to make. I also draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and strength-based interventions to help you build awareness, resilience, and confidence in your ability to navigate life’s challenges. Above all, I strive to meet you where you are, offering empathy, curiosity, and support while working together to shape therapy into something that feels intentional and aligned with your needs.

"I believe therapy should feel like a safe space to land—a place where you can show up exactly as you are and feel seen, heard, and supported. Whether you're navigating past trauma, current life stressors, relationship challenges, or anxiety, my goal is to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and care. I’m a Social Work Candidate with a Master of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and over 11 years of experience in the mental health field. I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings, and I bring a deep respect for each person’s unique story and strengths. My approach to therapy is holistic, client-centered, and grounded in the belief that healing looks different for everyone. I draw from a range of therapeutic methods—including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, recreational and art-based practices—and I am currently deepening my work in somatic and expressive therapies. Most importantly, I tailor each session to your individual needs, goals, and pace. It’s not always easy to reach out for support, but I truly believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship. If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, authenticity, and a genuine desire to help you grow, I’d be honored to connect with you."

When you go through difficult seasons, it is easy to feel alone and isolated. When bad things happen, they can shadow our present and feel like they're happening right now.  If you've experienced trauma, it's not just an event; it's what happens inside you in the response to that event, and it stays in your body.   You may be noticing that you feel stuck, as if you are looping in the same thoughts and feelings whenever that trauma or bad event is triggered.   Maybe it seems like things will never get better and that it's all hopeless. However, there is hope, healing, and wholeness.

I value the therapist-client relationship because it is essential for fostering healthy change. I strive to help you feel safe, secure, and empowered in our sessions. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals who have a trauma background and are feeling stuck in their anxiety and depression. Together, we can help you regain control over your life.  As your therapist, I fill the role of "empathic witness" by meeting you where you are and walking alongside you in your journey to wholeness.  Based on my understanding of the mind-body connection, my professional philosophy involves working with you to explore how your body and brain can work together to improve your overall emotional and mental well-being. Together, we can change how that trauma or bad event is stored in your body through body-brain based interventions such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and other strategies to help connect you to your body and to the present.  We can also tackle unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors to help manage overwhelming emotions.

Life may feel out of control, and you may not be able to change your circumstances, but you can take control of your life and circumstances by reaching out today to find tools to manage what is in your sphre of control.

We all need a safe space to express ourselves, to be seen, heard, and validated without judgment. I am passionate about helping people feel emotionally safe. People come to therapy for different reasons, but I believe they need to be seen, heard, and not judged for how they feel or think. I am dedicated to providing my clients the freedom to be themselves and guiding them in discovering who they aspire to be. I equip my clients with the necessary skills and empower them to choose and explore what works best for their personal lives and personalities to achieve their distinct goals. I have experience with adolescents and adults who struggle with PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. I apply a mixture of person-centered, psychoeducation, CBT, DBT, strength-based, mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapy. My duty as a therapist is to help increase my clients' self-awareness, create healthier patterns, and gain healthy coping skills that they can utilize daily. I also use humor in sessions! As someone familiar with experiences of abuse, homelessness, depression, and anxiety, I believe that anyone's difficult past can help them discover a better version of themselves for a higher purpose. Things happen for a reason, and people have the power to choose how their life experiences shape their lives moving forward. It will be an honor to walk with you.

Hi! My name is Clarissa, and I specialize in working with people who feel emotionally burnt out and are struggling to stay afloat. Life can get really overwhelming, and sometimes we need someone who will listen, ask thoughtful questions, and help us untangle everything that's been on our minds. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, past trauma, or simply feeling stuck, we'll work together to understand what you're going through and figure out what to do next.

I think that therapy works best when it's a partnership. Instead of me telling you what your life should look like, we will explore what feels right for you and go at your pace. I work with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds and offer therapy in both English and Spanish. Whether this is your first experience with therapy or you've been in counseling before, you're welcome here. I hope to hear and see you for who you are.

"Sometimes talking isn’t enough, and it can feel frustrating when traditional therapy doesn’t seem to be helping. That’s why I use approaches to work with both the mind and body, allowing you to move forward when you’re feeling stuck. I have extensive experience helping people heal from difficult life experiences and trauma. Whether you’re dealing with childhood wounds, relationship trauma, or painful experiences, I provide a safe space to work through these challenges. I use several effective modalities including EMDR and Gottman method for couples. I use techniques that help you connect with your body’s innate wisdom and understand the different parts of yourself. I believe everyone has the capacity for joy and connection, even if they feel distant right now. Together we’ll help you rediscover these parts of yourself."

In-Network Counseling Services

Accepting Medicaid & Insurance to Make Therapy Accessible for All

Most major insurance plans are accepted here, so cost isn't what's standing between you and feeling better — and we'll handle the paperwork.

How it works
1
Find the right provider
Find the right therapist for you on our directory — filter by service, specialty, approach, or location to see who fits what you're looking for. Every provider in our directory accepts the same insurance, practice-wide, so cost doesn't have to be a separate hurdle.
2
Complete our intake packet
Found a time that works? Click Book, then complete our Intake Packet. From there, we'll take care of gathering your insurance details and verifying your benefits — so it's one less thing to think about before your first appointment.
3
Attend your session
Attend your session online or in-person, whichever you booked. Your Client Portal keeps everything else in one place — appointments, your Good Faith Estimate (GFE), and messages with your provider.
Top-Rated Counseling Services

Why clients choose us for therapy

Our counselors are trained to help you work through what's hard — not just talk about it. When you're ready, we're ready.

Summary
Across hundreds of client reviews, one theme comes through again and again: people feel truly heard here. Clients describe finally finding a therapist who understood them, gaining real tools for anxiety, trauma, and anger management, and walking away from sessions feeling lighter and more hopeful. Many say Overcomers was the first place therapy actually felt like the right fit — a space to be met with warmth, patience, and genuine care on the path to becoming who they're meant to be.

Serena has not only knowledge, but compassion, understanding, guidance to push through whatever obstacles I have faced, and the advice needed to learn new traits or skills.
