I've been fortunate to practice as a therapist since my internship/practicum as a therapist in 2011 and graduating with my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling in May of 2012. My career began in a practice that specialized in general mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, parenting support, and couples counseling to treating abuse survivors of varying ages and degrees of severity. After a few years in that practice, I began work as a Clinical Coordinator and Counselor who's caseload consisted of mostly children, teens and their families with the goal of healing trauma and building a safe, loving and respectful environment for all. Over the course of the last decade I have run my own private practice where I've done work with couples, grief and loss, relationship difficulty, divorce, trauma, teens, parenting support, chronic illness and managing various life challenges and mental health concerns my clients need support with. At present, I am in the final stages of completing my Doctorate of Education in Community Care and Counseling with a Traumatology emphasis. This has created opportunity for me to learn even more in the field of trauma and therapeutic treatments that support sustainable healing. I have an eclectic therapeutic approach that has been developed by my 14+ years of therapeutic experience, trainings/practice and my own personal experience as a wife, mother, woman and person navigating life. My treatment style is tailored to what the client needs, honesty in facing the pain or difficulty that client may be managing, while holding hope for healing and a better future. I am a big believer that trauma and life experience wounds can be managed/soothed and no-one is beyond redemption if they choose to start the process of healing. I am looking forward to working with you, your family and your significant others.

When we go through difficult seasons, it is easy to feel alone and isolated. When bad things happen to us in the past, they tend to shadow our present; we feel trapped, as if we can never escape from our history. We may feel that we can never improve and that it's all hopeless. However, there is hope, there is healing, and there is wholeness. As your therapist, I fill the role of "empathic witness" by meeting you where you are and walking alongside you in your journey to wholeness. Based on my understanding of the mind-body connection, my professional philosophy involves working with you to explore how your body and brain influence your thoughts and emotions. Together, we can change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors, manage overwhelming emotions, and promote calmness in both your body and mind. I value the therapist-client relationship because it is essential for fostering healthy change. I strive to help you feel safe, secure, and empowered in our sessions. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals who have a trauma background and are feeling stuck in their anxiety and depression. Together, we can help you regain control over your life.

I moved from Arizona nine years ago to Colorado. I love all the adventure Colorado provides. Most of all, I love the cool summer nights and building a snowman in the winter. While here in Colorado, I have been attending school and have received two degrees in Applied Behavioral Psychology and one Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Therapy is a collaborative journey. As we work together, I believe symptoms can be reduced. I am a trauma-informed counselor who practices from an integrated systems perspective, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy, non-directive approaches, indirect play therapy, and motivational interviewing. My therapeutic approach encompasses relational counseling with a focus on person-centered therapy. I also incorporate a strength-based and solution-focused approach. I also utilize modalities such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Furthermore, I offer unconditional positive regard to all of my clients as we journey together in the counseling relationship.

Hi! I’m Richard, a counselor here in Colorado, and I'm genuinely excited for the opportunity to meet you! I believe that everyone is unique, with their own distinct life experiences and personal strengths. That's why my approach to therapy is all about building on the skills you've already developed and discovering new ones together; after all, who knows us better than ourselves? I love working collaboratively with each client to find the very best ways to support you on your journey, because I know that no therapy is one-size-fits-all. My goal is to provide you with a collaborative space full of curiosity to help you explore whatever issues are confronting you.

I earned my master's degree from Newman University and have experience supporting individuals through a variety of life struggles. I believe everyone carries their own story and unique strengths, and I'm passionate about helping people uncover their potential. My approach is eclectic and tailored to fit your needs, with a focus on building skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation so you can feel more grounded and empowered in everyday life. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you can show up just as you are. I know taking that first step toward healing can feel intimidating, but it's one of the bravest things you can do for yourself. You don't have to do it alone - let's work together to find the path forward. You're worth it.
