Back to School Can Cause Anxiety in Both Parents and Students

It's that time of year again in Colorado Springs. The leaves are starting to change color, and the days are getting shorter.

For many families, this can only mean one thing: back to school. While the start of a new school year can be an exciting time for students, it can also be a source of anxiety for both parents and children.

For parents, back to school can mean a return to the daily grind of homework, carpools, and after-school activities.

It can also be a time of financial strain as they try to keep up with the costs of school supplies and extracurricular fees.

For children, back to school can mean leaving the comfort and safety of summer vacation behind and facing the challenges of a new grade or a new school altogether.

It can be tough to adjust to early morning alarms and strict schedules after weeks of sleeping in and staying up late.

Whether you're a parent or a student, back to school can be a difficult time.

But by taking some time to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally, you can help ease the transition and start the new year off on the right foot.

For example, schools can offer counseling and therapy services, and parents can keep lines of communication open with their children.

By taking steps to support young students' mental health, we can help them thrive both academically and personally.

Support for Parents' or Legal Guardians' Mental Health is Important

Parents' or legal guardians' mental health is important for the well-being of the entire family.

When a parent or guardian struggles with their mental health, it can have a ripple effect on the entire family.

The stress of dealing with a mental health disorder can lead to conflict within the family, and children may start to exhibit behavioral problems.

In addition, parents who are struggling with their mental health may have difficulty providing the love and support that their children need. As a result, it is essential that parents or guardians have access to support from mental health professionals.

Therapy can provide parents or guardians with the tools they need to cope with their mental health disorders, and it can also help families to resolve conflicts and improve communication.
