No matter who you are, you fear something. Along with fear, most of us experience anxiety occasionally.
What are you anxious about? What do you fear?
No matter what the cause of your fear and anxiety is, be it the future, school or work, maybe loved ones and relationships, or something unique to your situation, these emotions can drastically block your productivity and your journey into becoming the highest version of yourself.
However, as Christians, we have access to the most powerful resource in overcoming these strong emotional barriers, the bible.
With this super-powered tool from God himself, we can harness all the negative emotions, understand what is causing them, listen to the promises of God, and then overcome them!
God has given you the tools and words to live a life that allows you to overcome anxiety and fear, we just need to dive into the bible.
Throughout this blog, we will be showing you the top bible verses to carry close to your heart in order to remain strong in your faith and your walk through this earth.
When you search through the Bible, you will notice some phrases stand out much more than others.
"Fear not" is one of the most spoken phrases by God.
What does that tell you about the way that our Father believes we should live our lives?
To live a life without fear is to walk close to God. When we reflect on the life of Jesus, it doesn't take long to realize, he certainly walked on this earth with no fear.
Facing death on the cross he cared more about the people committing the evil deeds on him than he did about the pain and problems he was facing. Isaiah 41:10 says "Do not fear for I Am with you, do not be dismayed, for I Am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand."
If God promises to be with you, to uphold you, knowing how truly righteous he is, why would you ever fear?
Trust in your Father and do not be disheartened by the evil of this earth.
Jesus is often referred to as the prince of peace, and we all know we should try our best to replicate the perfect life that he lived while on this earth, so why would we fear anything?
Peace is one of the most underappreciated states of being on this earth.
Many people chase fame, money, power, and status. Why?
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
If we can shift our focus to Jesus and the promises that he has given us, we will learn to overcome fear and anxiety through the words he has spoken to us.
When searching for peace, sit down and try to talk to God, whether he talks back or not, simply by being in the moment, breathing, and realizing that God loves you and wants you to live in nothing but peace, you will surely find it.
1 Peter 5:7 says "Cast all your anxieties on Him because he cares for you."
God wants to be the shoulder you lean on when you are experiencing difficult times. The creator of the universe knows all and nothing can surprise him or drain him.
He will never abandon you or forsake you, so why choose to experience this anxiety on your own.
You have the most powerful and loving Father in this universe waiting to take all of the pressure off and lead you to an anxiety free life.
You have the request directly from God, asking to release your worries, choose today to listen and enjoy your life more.
While we all wish we had the cheat code to life and could control every situation to shift it more in our favor, we don't have that power.
But do you know who could move mountains with the snap of his fingers?
God can do all things, yet he chooses not to let you win the lottery and live on easy streets like you think and wish would happen.
But why if he's a good, good Father doesn't he just give us unlimited money and create that dream life we think we want?
He has a plan.
A plan for growth, for experience, for joy, for love, and for salvation.
While none of us truly understand Him, (his ways are far beyond our ways) we can trust in Him.
Time and time again throughout the bible, God has proven he is to be trusted.
When you look deep down into your own heart, you will also see that he is more than trustworthy, he is the creator of all and by letting this anxiety and fear wreak havoc on your life, you are not listening and trusting God.
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways, submit to Him and he will make your paths straight."
Even in the most insecure, doubtful, anxiety-ridden moments of our short human experiences, by surrendering to God, we can release those heavy burdens and live the lives we are called to.
How can you move closer to him today? What are you holding onto that you need to put in His hands?
When you think of the person that is rooting for you the most in this world who is it?
A best friend?
A partner?
Maybe a parent or guardian?
It's a blessing if you have someone you can put so much faith in, but the one who truly is rooting for you more than anyone else is the creator of sunrises and sunsets, the one who commands the seas and counts the stars.
So let us ask you again.
What are you anxious about?
What could you possibly fear?
Next time you begin to experience fear and anxiety, turn to Isaiah 41:10 and remember who is on your team.
There is a hidden angel army ready to go to bat for you against the powers of this world, and of a world we don't understand yet.
Do not fear and if you need someone to talk to, reach out to a professional Christian counselor and discuss your problems, they will be happy to study the word of God with you to help you grow in this world and in your faith.
