Bible Verses About Cheating: Exodus 20:14

One of the Bible verses about cheating is, "You shall not commit adultery."

Let's be clear from the start- The Bible says cheating is wrong.

It's one of the Ten Commandments- cheating is wrong.

God is truth and wants all people to be honest and true.

Cheating can happen in different ways, however, cheating inevitably involves lying, or in some cases, hiding the truth.

Regardless, Bible verses about cheating make it abundantly clear- Cheating is wrong.

There is no justification for cheating, no reason or excuse it's ever okay.

If there are problems in a relationship, cheating is never the answer.

If you or someone you know is contemplating cheating, seek professional advice from a Christian counselor.

Christian counseling can provide healthy, Bible-based alternatives to the destructive act of cheating.

Bible Verses About Cheating: Proverbs 6:32

Another Bible verse about cheating is, "But a person who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys themselves."

Cheating is an irrational act.

Cheating is a temporary, fleeting solution to problems like frustrations with a relationship, anger towards a partner, and/or feelings of neglect or low self-esteem.

When a person cheats, they do not consider their future, security, home life, or their partner's wellbeing.

When the Bible says, "…whoever [cheats] destroys themselves," it means there is always a serious fallout from cheating.

Consequences of cheating include damaged: relationships with partners and even children, marriage, reputation, mutual trust, home life, job security, and family ties.

The fallout from cheating may have long-lasting consequences and often harm others not even involved in the affair.

That's why cheating is so damaging- its effects permeate all aspects of life.

Because cheating is often so damaging, there's a lot of rebuilding that must be done.

But don't go it alone.

Christian counseling can provide the psychological and spiritual tools you need to rebuild a relationship after cheating.

God is a solid foundation upon which to build or rebuild anything, especially a broken relationship.

Let a licensed professional Christian counselor guide you through the wreckage of cheating, to rebuild something new.

Bible Verses About Cheating: I Corinthians 10:13

Another of the Bible verses about cheating is, "God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear…when you are tempted, God will provide a way out so that you can endure it."

In order for there to be true forgiveness and healing after cheating, there must be a genuine acknowledgment of responsibility for it.

Ever hear a cheater say, "I couldn't help myself, I couldn't resist."

Or hear a cheater say, "I just got carried away and lost control."

These phrases suggest that the person who cheated is somehow not fully responsible for their action.

They're basically saying, in so many words, it's not really my fault.

The truth is- Cheating is a choice.

Nobody is perfect, everybody makes mistakes.

But, when it comes to cheating, a person always has a choice.

Bible verses about cheating teach us that God will never let anybody be tempted more than they can bear.

God always gives you a way out, a way to resist temptation and make the right choice.

Bible verses about cheating tell us that we are responsible for our actions, and should be accountable to both God and others for what we choose to do.

Because of this, it's important for the cheater to offer genuine repentance.

A person who cheats needs to take full responsibility for their choice, in order to move forward to a place of genuine forgiveness, trust, and healing.

Excuses for wrongdoing hinder the healing process.

A Christian counselor can guide you and/or your loved one through steps towards admitting guilt, taking responsibility, and finding new trust and respect.

Bible Verses About Cheating: Proverbs 10:9

Another of the Bible verses about cheating is, "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out."

God is the way, the truth, and the light.

Wrongdoing will always come to the light, which means cheating will always be discovered.

"Whoever takes the crooked paths [the cheater] will be found out."

And yet, even when cheating is happening and hasn't been discovered yet, it destroys relationships.

Sneaking around, lying, manipulating, breaking promises, and sharing intimacy with another all have a way of silently damaging relationships.

Bible verses about cheating tell us that when you lie and cheat, it spoils even the good experiences you have.

How can a cheater truly enjoy an evening with their partner, when in the back of their mind they feel guilty or worry they be discovered?

Bible verses about cheating teach us that deceit and cheating poison your mental, emotional, physical, and even spiritual health.

The truth will set you free.

And a licensed professional Christian counselor can help you tell the truth, expose the deceit and live a new life of freedom from cheating.

Bible Verses About Cheating: Romans 8:28

The last of the Bible verses about cheating is, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Once cheating has taken place, it sets in motion a whole series of unfortunate events.

Trust is gone.

Anger and bitterness linger and fester under the surface.

Relationships crumble.

Families break apart.

Bible verses about cheating tell us that even the bad things that happen, like cheating, can work out for the good.

God has a plan, a design for everybody's life.

Sometimes we get off track from God's plan, or sometimes others choose to cheat on us and damage our plans.

Either way, Bible verses about cheating encourage us that even harmful, damaging events like cheating can work out for good, according to God's plan.

Sometimes a richer, deeper love can blossom from even a disastrous event like cheating.

Christian Counselors that Can Help

Cheating is a multifaceted issue that the Bible has much to say about.

Throughout its verses, it unequivocally condemns actions such as anyone who has committed adultery, has a lying lips, and taking crooked paths.

For instance, in Proverbs 6:32, it states that a person who commits adultery lacks sense and that he who does so destroys himself.

This is reinforced in the New Testament, where in Hebrews 13:4, we are reminded to keep the marriage bed pure, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

The Bible also highlights the importance of integrity – Proverbs 10:9 tells us that "whoever walks in integrity walks securely."

However, it's not always easy to maintain integrity, especially when faced with temptation or difficult life circumstances.

This is where professional help, such as counseling, can be beneficial.

At Overcomers Counseling, we have Christian counselors who understand these Bible verses and their implications.

They can provide guidance on how to apply these principles in your everyday life.

Our counseling sessions are grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ, and our aim is to help individuals live a life free from the bondage of sin.

Remember that in Galatians 6:8, the Bible says "For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."

It's important to note that you're not alone in this journey – the Holy Spirit is there to guide you, and professional counselors are available to support you.

Taking the path of honesty and refusing to commit adultery or act dishonestly may seem challenging, but the rewards are eternal.

As believers, we are assured that "Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor" (Proverbs 21:21).

So, if you're struggling with issues related to cheating, remember that turning to the Bible and seeking professional help from Christian counselors can offer you the guidance you need.

Conclusion

The consequences of cheating are often long-lasting, destructive, and ultimately difficult to resolve.

After cheating occurs in a relationship it can seem almost impossible to rebuild trust, respect, love, and intimacy.

Christian counseling seeks to guide those struggling with the fallout of cheating by offering mental, emotional, and spiritual advice.

Bible verses about cheating encourage us to seek treatment, seek counsel and keep believing.

Keep the faith.

With God all things are possible.

Even rebuilding and rediscovering love after cheating.

Seek Christian counseling from a licensed professional therapist, and discover hope for a brighter future.
